Peri.natologist - 10wks5dys

My IVF nurse had warned us that going to see the Peri.natologist may be a bit scary because they are trained to deal with worst case scenarios.  She's had patients leave the Peri.natologist's office and come straight down stairs to their office crying!  Yeah, she was right about the scary part.  We did come down to see them after our appointment, but there was no crying....just a little worrisome.

They go through a lot of information and do lay it all out as far as risks and what could possibly happen.  Steve was really intrigued by it all and was taking it all in.  I was just scared thinking, 'uh, I hope my baby doesn't have that or I hope we don't have to go through that.'

Overall the appointment went well.  The dr. said that everything seems to be coming along good.  They will see me every 4 weeks to monitor baby and make sure things are progressing like it's suppose to.  He agrees that I should stay on the Love.nox as long as possible for now.  We will return in two weeks to do the first trimester screening.  I need to really watch my sugar intake since I have PCOS (that will require a lot of work on my part since I have a big sweet tooth!)

I think between my regular OB visits and the peri visits, we should be able to see more of baby.  We could have just sat there all day and watched the screen.  Every time we see the baby, we are just in awe of God's creation.
(Heartbeat was 174 bpm)

This baby needs a name while it's in womb.  We've been trying to come up with one and I think we may have one.  Promise you won't laugh??  Since I'm Vietnamese and Steve's Italian (50%) the best we could do is Baby Vietitaly (pronounced Viet-ta-ly).  Get it?  Too cheesy?  Okay, ya'll can stop laughing now.  Please tell me if you have a better name because we're open to suggestions!

I'm glad the appointment went well. I'm sorry the Peri was a little scary.

I think the name is cute! If you're looking for something else, how about thinking of a Vietnamese dessert and an Italian dessert mixture? Some type of cannoli?

It's amazing how much baby goes from looking like a tic-tac to having a defined head, arms and body! I have a feeling you're having a girl for some reason and I think your name for her (or him!) is so cute.

Is visiting a perinatologist something you have to do because of PCOS? or because of doing in vitro? This is all new to me so I just wondered :) Don't be scared at all; God's work is always perfect in His way!

I love the ultrasound picture! Isn't it so sweet? I also love the name. It is so precious. I am glad that everything is going well so far. My sister is on love.nox shots with her pregnancy right now too. She is about 15 weeks, but she has been on them since 6 weeks pg and will be on them for her whole pregnancy. She was on them with her last pregnancy, and she has a beautifuly, happy, healthy 4-year-old. :)

I think the name is perfect- so appropriate! Sorry about the scary info- I hate that they have to share it with us, when we we are really already aware of all of these risks. It's just uneeded worry and stress for an IF. Your doing great, may God continue to bless you with a happy & healthy pregnancy! xoxoxox

Oh, I'm so jealous! I go for my first appt. Tuesday, but I know I won't get to see my baby yet. Seeing yours is almost as exciting!

We had to see an peri-natalogist with Adam. It was scary, but we got good news from them and an awesome 4-D ultrasound at 30 weeks, so it was a good trip.

We called Adam "Baby O" before he was born. We also called him "Fetus Olthoff" and "Festus" because someone mis-read "fetus" on my hubby's work bulletin board.

How are you feeling? I've graduated to throwing up at least once a day, and feeling crummy 24/7. :(
