Life has been extremely busy lately. And a bit stressful this week. My blog has been neglected :(
Keeping a house clean while it sits on the market is hard. It makes trying to get out the door 10x harder because you have to make sure EVERYTHING is put away! We've had zero showings on the house since it's been on the market (two weeks). Although my realtor had a broker's luncheon/open house yesterday and the feedback was all positive (great curb appeal, show's beautiful, model home like, priced right, no clutter! -- these were all feedback from the realtors that came through!). So why no showings?! We're going to blame it on summer vacations.
Work has been keeping me super busy! And it's always extra busy right before you go on vacation right? Matthew and I are taking a mini vacation next week. We are going to Chicago for a few days to meet up with my BFF. It'll be his first plane ride! I'm SO nervous about it. Thankfully, it's only about an hour and a half plane ride, but trying to get there and through Security, etc, will take time. Anyone have any favorite things to do in Chicago with a toddler??

I didn't have any showings the week before and the week of the 4th of July. My realtor said it was the busiest vacation weeks of the year and it would pick up this week. I hope he's right.
Ugh - I can't imagine trying to keep a house show-ready, and then not get any showings! How frustrating! I hope things turn around quickly.
Have fun on the trip to Chicago! Bring lots of distractions on the plane. But I bet it will go fine - good luck!
Love the family portrait!
Wait - your house doesn't look "show-ready" all the time? ;) Ha, just kidding. I would be EXHAUSTED if I had to keep my house that tidy - I have a meltdown when I know the inlaws are coming over and I don't have enough time to stuff everything into cupboards and put the laundry away! The plane ride will be fine, I'm sure - my biggest tip: snacks! Tiny, multiple snacks so they last longer - perfect for take-off and landing - safe journey! x
I find keeping my house up to personal standards is stressful enough, I can't imagine what you feel! Good luck with the whole process though. We're all here for you if you need to vent. :)
My in laws have had their house on the market for almost 6 months, with only about 5 showings...BUT they are way over priced and it's a much older and contemporary styled home.
Enjoy your vacation!
Your house is so beautiful, I thought it would sell in a minute! We had our house on (and off) the market for several years, and it was awful. I was constantly stressed out - and with three kids! I don't wish that stress on anyone! The trip will be great - just take some extra time to be in the airport. We recently took three kids to Disney, so we were outnumbered. Security was the worst, but the attendants were actually quite nice and good with the kids. They know you have a baby and will be kind!
Want to hear something cliche? "All it takes is one buyer." :p Hopefully that buyer will be coming to see it very soon. Are there a lot of other homes in your area for sale? Your realtor should be trying harder for sure though.
Traveling with a baby isn't actually as bad as I thought it would be, and I am an anxious person. Folks at security are usually pretty nice and helpful. Make sure to take something for Matthew to chew on when the plane takes off and lands.
Matthew is getting so big! That picture makes him look like he's 2-3. Such a beautiful family.
We want to sell our house in couple years but just thnking about it is making me stress out!! so much work and I already know we may lose money :( boo! good luck with the whole process and hopefully you will have some showings! I bet a lot of people are on vaca lately
I'll be praying that the right buyer comes along soon! And remember it's only been 2 weeks.. give it time!
Love your iphone family pic!
Good luck with Matthew on the plane. Chicago is a great town for kids/families. I don't have any specific suggestions, but you could search the web for great ideas - many of which are free.We just returned from taking Tot on his first airplane ride(s). He did so great in the air. Thought the airports were a bit boring and crowded for his and our liking, respectively.
I love the iphone picture!
