Ponies and Bunnies

We went to a birthday party that had  ponies and a small little petting zoo.

Abbey had so much fun!

Everybody loves a pony ride!

I looked terrified in this picture.  I was trying to get a picture with the baby bunnies but the one I was holding was scratching me with her claws and it freaked me out.

The bunnies were so cute!  They were only five weeks old. 

Wouldn't it be fun to have these cute bunnies for Easter?!

I wanted to take one home with me, but I knew we didn't have time or energy to care for a newborn baby AND a newborn bunny!!

I think I'll stick with my cute boys, who are also cute and cuddly!



It's A Wrap

This was his first time in shoes. I thought he was so cute.

I love staying home with Matthew! 

There are days where we go out and have lunch/play dates and run errands (those are fun days!).

The days that I can get out of the house are days that make me feel good (probably because I've taken a shower!)

And there are days where we just stay home and literally do nothing.

There's plenty that NEEDS to be done at home. 

The problem is Matthew wants to be held ALL.THE.TIME.

I LOVE holding my baby, but it makes for a VERY unproductive day! I try putting him down when he falls asleep, but that wakes him up.  He has to be in a deep sleep in order for me to put him down.

So, I decided to try the Mo.by Wrap.

Not sure how I like it (it's only been two days). 

I do LOVE the hands free ability.

I'm just scared of hurting Matthew since he's all squished in there.

I'll give it a few more days to see if I (and Matthew) can get use to it.

 

1 Month

My baby is one month old today!

Mommy and Daddy are still in awe that you are part of our family.

What have you been up to in the first month of your life?

Doctor appointments every week to check your jaundice (which is clearing up).

Eating almost every 3 hours

Pooping every 3 hours

You prefer the bottle over nursing, but mommy still nurses you AND give you a bottle right after each feeding.

You can sleep with the TV on and in loud restaurants.

You will grunt and scream until we hold you close.

We try to swaddle you, but your always find a way to wiggle your arms out.

You are growing!  At your last dr visit, you were at 6 lbs 10 ounces.  At your one month check up you weighed 7 lbs 11 ounces.

What has mommy learned in the past month??

To function with baby in one hand and doing every thing else one-handed.

Sleep deprivation is worth it when I see your beautiful face and smell your sweet baby scent.

Recovering from a C-section takes a very looong time.

Getting out of the house on time is impossible.

It's okay if the dishes aren't done and the laundry is piling up.  

The house doesn't always have to be spotless.

Taking a shower after 5:00 pm is normal.

All the pain seems minimal compared to the blessings you have brought into our lives.

Mommy and Daddy love you so much.  We waited so long for you and you are worth the wait.  We love watching you sleep so peacefully and seeing you smile while you are sleeping.  We often wonder what you are dreaming of that brings that cute little smile to your face.

We are grateful that Heavenly Father sent you to our family. We are honored to be your parents.  We promise to love you and raise you in the gospel to love the Lord and be an example to all that you come in contact with.  Our hearts are filled with a love that is indescribable. 

All because of you!

Looking a Mess

It's almost 5:00 pm.

I haven't showered, yet.

I look a mess!

I'm trying to multi-task (checking blogs while trying to get baby to sleep).

Grandma's gone.

Daddy's almost home.

I need to go pump.

(Worried my milk supply is drying up).

Hard to believe I'm half way through my (paid) maternity leave. 

Time flies.

So much to do, not enough time to do it all.

Things are slowly getting better.

Steve went back to work this week.  His mom came into town to stay with us for the week.

We are sooooo grateful Grandma's here!!

I have the best MIL.

She is awesome!

The bestest MIL anyone could ever ask for.

We are going to miss her when she leaves us on Friday :(

Cousin Abbey loving Matthew.

We continue to have weekly dr appts for Matthew and myself. His jaundice is getting better and he's gaining weight.  My incision is slowly healing. Still very uncomfortable.

We had our first 'play' date this week. It was nice to get out and meet up with my friend and her adorable baby!  I love how everyone always smiles when they see babies.  Matthew is quite the charmer.

Like I said, we are making progress every day.

Some days are harder than others (thanks to the hormones), but we keep plugging along.

Two Weeks Old

My baby is two weeks old today. 

It's been a very HARD two weeks.

I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, because I know there are tons of you out there who would trade places with me in a heart beat. 

I am just being honest.

Recovering from a C-section and caring for a new born is VERY hard.  Sleep deprivation is not fun.

I admire all those who have multiples or caring for a newborn and toddlers at the same time.  Hats off to you!

But I remind myself daily that I asked begged for this. 

Heavenly Father has trusted me to care for this precious child.

And I promised Him that I would do the best that I could...no matter what.

Matthew still has a little jaundice so we've had lots of dr appointments.

I am brea.stfeeding and he wasn't latching on very well.  He had a short Frenulum (the little thing under your tongue) which causes latching problems.  The dr had to go in and clip it a little.  I was terrified of the procedure, but Matthew didn't even cry at all.  I have to use a nip.ple shield so he can latch, but I'm hoping he will be able to do it on his own soon.

I had to take a quick trip to the ER the other morning.  I was coughing a ton through the night and I thought I tore open my stitches from the C-section. Turns out everything was okay.  It was just a very small opening and it was leaking fluid (according to the dr, the good kind of fluid.  Not sure what that means).  It was still a scary experience.

So that's what's been happening in our house for the last two weeks.

Matthew eats, poo's, and sleeps.

Mommy and daddy feed him, change him and try to get some sleep.

(Repeat, repeat, repeat)

And while it's all hard, it's all worth it.

Baby is perfect.

Mommy and Daddy are sleep deprived, but over the moon happy!!

More to come later when we find the strength and time.
