Do You See What I See? - Baby Gender Reveal

We're having a BOY!!

When the ultrasound tech said it was a boy, I immediately said, 'Are you sure?!'  Yeah, she was pretty sure.
We are very happy and excited that it's a boy! It was such a wonderful moment.

Here's my conversation with Abbey when I called to tell her:

ME:  Abbey, guess what Aunt Hannah and Uncle Steve are going to have?
ABBEY:  What?
ME:  We're going to have a baby BOY!
ABBEY:  What?!! I don't like boys! I want a girl.
ME: Yeah, but you're going to have a baby sister in a few weeks (my SIL is due next week).  It's okay if our baby is a boy.  You'll have another boy cousin.
SILENCE ON THE PHONE
ME: Abbey, aren't you happy for us?
ABBEY: No, but mommy is (I can hear her mom in the background). I don't like boys.
ME: But our baby boy can play with your baby sister.  Aren't you excited?
ABBEY:  (reluctantly) Yeah, a little bit.

She's such a little stinker!

There's a Vietnamese old wives tale that they use to predict baby gender.  My sister's baby boy, MJ,  is six months old and they came to have lunch with me yesterday.  I wanted to test this theory out so I didn't tell my sister that I knew it was a boy yet.  So the theory goes like this, if you are pregnant and hold a baby (boy) on your belly and the baby stands with only one foot on your belly, it's a boy.  And if it stands with two feet, then it's a girl.  (The opposite applies if you are holding a baby girl on your belly - one foot equals girl and two feet equals boy).

Well, I held up baby MJ and put his little feet on my belly and he would only stand with one foot on my belly and the other foot up.  I did it several times and each time he would do the same thing.  Then I would put him on my lap to see if he would stand straight up and sure enough, he would stand on two feet on my lap. Then I switched him back to my belly and he would switch back to only one foot.  It was the cutest thing!  My sister was very happy that we are having a boy.  She has a lot of baby boys clothes to hand down!  I'll take whatever I can get to save money.

I told Steve I needed to stock up on baby clothes that say this:

He didn't agree, but 'm sure I can sneak a few of them in.

(Please do not make mention any of our baby news on Face.book.  Thanks!)

OH MY GOODNESS! Congrats to you and Steve...now, as long as you don't name the baby like the name that I saw in my dreams...I won't get so freaked. SO FUNNY...when you said that you guys found out that the baby was a boy but did not want to tell us yet...I don't know how but I just felt that the baby was a boy... A Vietnamese wives tale huh? Someone told me this too but she was not Vietnamese...another tale that my mom told me was if I was craving sweets then the baby is a girl and if I wanted sour & salty food, then the baby is a boy...

Yay Hannah! Congrats on your baby boy! I still can't make out how they can tell its a boy and I wont even embarress myself...I think I saw berries, but not sure?!

The Vietnamese wives tale was so fascinating and true- how neat is that?! I want to try it *when* we get pregnant.

Congrats Hannah! Now I know what colors to send. ;)

That is so funny about the Old Wives tale. I totally would have tried it out too.

Abbey sure is a goof. I am sure she will learn to love the baby, even if he isn't a girl. :)

*hugs*
