Now that Matthew is six months, I've decided to wean myself off the pump.
I am slowly weaning. I went from pumping four times a day down to two times.
Do I feel guilty? Absolutely!
I nursed/pumped for the past six months and have about one month's worth in the freezer.
So that's 7 months of breastmilk!
I know that mama's milk is the BEST thing for my baby, but my mental health is at jeopardy.
(Insert quote: If mama ain't happy, ain't NOBODY happy!)
It was a hard decision, but in the end I feel like it's best for us.
Now only if my milk supply would just dry up, fast!
I might have to get some cabbage to help.

Holy cow, i can't imagine pumping that long! Good for you for going at it so long! 7 months of breast milk is awesome. I hope things dry up easily for you. ^_^ BTW Your little one is adorable!
My word, Matthew is getting cuter and cuter!!! Seriously, a doll! Good for you for sticking out breastfeeding this long! It's so hard, that's no joke, so don't feel guilty for calling it quits. I made it to 4 months with Ella and I'm PRAYING I can do the same for our baby boy. It's a pain drying up...it hurts so bad (at least it did for me), but eventually, your body will stop producing milk.
I had no problems with engorgement after I quit nursing. I went from 2 to 1 to every other day and then stopped. 6 months of breast milk is great...I could only pump with Heather for 5 and then I was going nuts and I wasn't working a full time job or a social schedule like you! :) The other kiddos were a whole year but that's because I LOVED nursing and it was so cheap and fast and no cleaning bottles, but the pump and feed SUCKED!!! Good luck! :)
Every drop helps. Don't feel guilty!! You did a great job and Matthew is a big strong boy!! Good luck!! The weaning part is not fun. I never did the cabbage leaves but I probably should have.

great job on doing it for 6 months! and wow 1 month worth of supplies??? I have about maybe 3 days worth. Im still pumping about twice at work (9hr shift) and then I nurse Kaylee when I'm home. I'm hoping to go for 1 year but who knows, as long as I can breastfeed for 6 months, Im happy!
Don't feel bad, you did great! let me know the process...does the milk just dry up?
PS. yes kaylee is daddy's lil girl!!! BIG TIME! :D
Six months is really good! Congrats with making it that long...I'm not sure I could.
I wanted to stop by to thank you for your thoughts and prayers during the loss of my dad. The love and support that's been extended to my family and I during this very difficult time has meant so much. I really appreciate all my blog friends and their taking the time to remember us in prayer.
Good for you, Hannah! You hung there a lot longer than I did with my first! Your mental health is extremely important...I'm sure Steve would agree. Cabbage does help!!!!!!!!!!! And looking online, sage tea (2 cups a day) is also recommended! You can do this!
Man oh man the guilt we feel after we become mothers. We beat ourselves up about everything little thing.
I completely understand the importance of mama's mental health. You've done a great job if you have stuck with it this long. Give yourself a big hug and pat on the back because your little man is clearly happy and healthy!
