Sick of being sick!

It all started with a sore throat on Sunday night. By Thursday morning, it was bronchitis and conjunctivitis (aka pink eye). So, the doctor has me on;

1. Robitussin with codine (why don't they just sell this stuff over the counter?

2. Eye drops for the pink eye.

3. Amoxicillin.

4. Gatorade (of course, the dr. didn't prescribe this, but as a kid, I always use to drink Gatorade when I was sick...specifically, the lemon/lime flavor).

5. Lemon Herbal Tea with honey.

I am feeling a little bit better, but I still have a cough that gets progressively worst at night. I wake up a couple of times during the night because it's so bad.

I have to return to work tomorrow so I am praying that I will continue to get better.

4th of July with Jai Lao

The fourth of July was spent with friends of JaiLao.org. These lovely ladies all have such big hearts. They came to D.C. to have a fundraiser at the Laos Temple to raise funds to help build a school in Laos. The event was a success, but what really matters is that they raised awareness within the Laotian community.

This cute little dancer stole the show. She was absolutely adorable.

Outer Banks, NC 2009

LIFE IS GOOD AT THE BEACH!!

We rented a beach house and invited my family to join us. The house was the perfect size for us. My brother and his wife and my sister and her son came down and spent a few days with us. Abbey was so excited to go to the beach and collect seashells. She was a little apprehensive about the ocean, so Steve carried her out in the water, but the waves crashing against them didn't make it any more appealing. However, we discovered the clubhouse pool and she LOVED it!

Our daily agenda was pretty much the same;

wake up (although on the first day, Abbey woke up at 6:00 AM wanting to go the beach)
eat breakfast
put bathing suits on
spend a few hours at the beach/pool
eat lunch
take a nap
get up and figure out what's for dinner
eat dinner
play games/putt-putt
watch T.V. (LOT'S of Disney channel)
get ready for bed
wake up the next day and REPEAT!

It was a great week spent with family and relaxing. We will definitely return to the Outer Banks again.

Thought for Thursday

The Shabby Nest is one of the many new blogs that I have started stalking. I need to add them all to my favorites, but I haven't had time to yet. Today, she had this quote on her blog that I love. It reminds me of how we need to share our talents that the Lord has blessed us with. Some of us may have talents that are undiscovered, but when you do discover them, don't forget where they came from.

Christmas (posting) in July

I'm about seven months late on this posting, but I wanted to make sure I captured it. For the holidays, Abbey had a little 'Christmas Shop' at school where the kids could purchase presents. Her parents gave her money and she made a 'list' of people she wanted to buy for.

This is what she bought for me. I was just so overwhelmed with happiness when I opened up this little gift. If you look closely, it says "You're the Best Aunt."

This is what she bought for Steve. A paper weight with smiley faces inside. I'm sure if there was a "You're the best Uncle" present, she would have purchased that instead.

We love our Abigail. She brings us so much joy. We are grateful that we can live close so we can see her often.

...I married the love of my life!

Some things I've learned in the past 9 years:

Communication is key.

Trials make your love stronger.

Savor every moment together.

Compromise.

Patience.

Listen.

Know what makes each other happy and strive to achieve it.

Blessings come from attending the temple.

Always say 'I Love You' everyday.

Memorial Day Weekend 2009

Memorial Day weekend was filled with friends, food, and fun. Who could ask for a better comination? I had friends who came in to town for a wedding and we all hung out all weekend. One thing we did realize was that life was too short and that we had to enjoy it while we could.

These girls all have big hearts and have such a charitable spirit.
