Yeah, that was MY baby!

(High School friends)

You know when you're out (in a restaurant) and there's that baby that just wont' stop SCREAMING?!!
Yeah, that was MY baby on Friday night.

I met some friends for dinner and Matthew was good for about 10 minutes.  Then he started to SCREAM and was just NOT happy.  I changed his diaper and tried to feed him, but he was not having it!  He was horrible and I WAS so frustrated!  Everyone was staring at us and I felt so bad.

I finally took him outside and he was fine.  My dear friend Courtney came out and held him for me so I could eat and visit with the rest of the ladies for a little bit.  He was still being fussy for her too!

I'm glad I got to visit with my friends for a bit, but I was just a frustrated wreck!

The first picture was from a few weeks ago when I met up with some high school friends so they could all meet Matthew.  He was good through dinner but toward the end he was not a happy camper.

Lesson learned - Do not take Matthew out by myself.  He does not like dining out!  I'm sure it won't get any easier until he's much older.

No More Blankets In The Crib!!

When we put Matthew to sleep at night, he's always in a full lenth onesie (the ones that cover his feet) and a light blanket up to his mid section tucked between the mattress.

He's been rolling and rotating himself in his crib a lot when he sleeps.  The other morning, he was waking up and was stirring in his crib and Steve went in to check on him and lo and behold, the blanket was wrapped around his head!!

That was kind of scary!  So he now goes to bed with NOTHING in his crib.  I was worried that he would get cold (since Steve likes to keep the temperature at 72 -that's compromising - it's an ongoing battle we have every night with the temperature) but so far he's been okay.  I check in on him often and make sure the monitor is cranked up so I can hear him breathing too!

When is it safe to put the blanket back??  He's fine for now since it's summer, but what about when it gets cold again in the fall/winter??  It's so scary to think that he could get 'trapped' under his blanket like that.

We might just have to get use to high heating/air conditioning bill!

Swinging

Matthew loves his swing!
He sits in it and stares up and smiles.

Wonder what he see's?

HIMSELF!
(but if you look closely, you can see me with the camera too!)

And he loves smiling at his reflection.

He also likes the birdies that spin around and the music it plays.

I love watching him in his swing. He likes to sit in it and fall asleep sometimes.  Although, he fights it when he's tired, but I know he will fall asleep eventually!

I love it when he entertains himself!

Matthew is 5 Months

He's actually 5 months and 6 days (but who's counting?)
I'm just a few days late with the posting.

My little pumpkin, you are growing, growing, growing!

I wish I knew how much you  weigh now, but it's hard to tell since you don't go back to the pediatrician until you are 6 months.  But since you weighed about 14lbs last month, I'm going to guess and say you probably weight about 16 lbs (although when I'm carrying you in the carseat, it feels like you weight about 25 lbs!)

You are in size 2 diapers and size 6-9 month clothes.  Although mommy still squeezes you into size 3 month sleepers and they still fit somewhat (as long as you don't stretch your legs - ha!)

You are still sleeping through the night.  Yay!  You go down about 9:00 pm and get up around 5:30 am for a feeding, then snuggle into bed with mommy.

You take naps through out the day and Miss Melanie (babysitter) is so good at getting you to nap!

You are rolling all over the place!  And you can lift your upperbody up (not just your head, like before). You are slowly able to push yourself backwards.  Pretty soon you will be crawling!  Mommy is not ready for that!

You are sitting in your bumbo and it's so nice to have you 'sit' at the dinner table with us.
You started to laugh out loud and it's music to my ears when you laugh!
You have also started to 'talk' (aka, baby yap).  It's so funny to hear you yap.  Mommy tries to yap along with you!  Daddy says I'm pretty good at yapping.

You are reaching for toys in front of you and in your carseat.
You are still drooling and love sticking your fingers in your mouth.  You even try to stick your fingers in your mouth AND your bottle at the SAME time!

You have the cutest smile!  It lights up my heart to see your beautiful smile.
Strangers will smile at you and you smile right back!

I can't stand to be away from you and even miss you when you are sleeping in the next room!

We love you so much pumpkin!
Thank you for giving me reason to get up every morning.
I count my blessings every.single.day because of you!

REUNITED.....

....And it feels SO good!!!

I am so happy to be home with my boys!!
That was the longest three days, ever!

After dinner, I just snuggled with my baby.
I love it when he falls asleep nestled on my shoulder.
I wanted him to sleep with us in the bed, but finally gave in and Steve put him in his crib.

I am very blessed.
Life is good again.

Missing My Baby

In the six years that I've been with this company, I can count on one hand the number of times I've had to travel.  It rarely happens.  And I didn't mind traveling for work, but that was BEFORE Matthew. Now it's too hard to be away overnight from him.

I've been in D.C. since Sunday night for a conference.  I miss my baby so much!  It's like a hole in my heart. The babysitter sends me txt messages and pictures of him through out the day.  I love seeing his smiling face. I call home every night to talk to Matthew.  Steve says he stares at the phone while I talk.  I wonder if he misses his momma!

I can't wait to go home tomorrow and smoother my pumpkin with kisses.
Oh, and of course, I miss my hubby too! (haha).

That's How I Roll (asleep)

Since he started rolling over, Matthew has been sleeping on his belly.
Even when we put him on his back, he ends up face down.

Here he is in his pack and play.

He  makes me nervous when he sleeps with his face down like that.
I'm always checking to make sure he's breathing under there.

Sometimes I will turn his head to the side so I know he can breath.
And at night, when we put him in his crib, I crank up the baby monitor so I can actually hear him breathing.

Even when he sleeps he is a cutie!
Although he is only in the next room, I still miss him terribly when he's sleeping!!
Wish I could crawl in his crib and snuggle next to him (but I exceed the weight limit by about a TON!)

Cutie University

Just wanted to share some pictures I took of Matthew last month (6/21/11).
He's a proud member of Cutie University (hence the shirt).
Please excuse the drool stains on his shirt.

 Love my cutie pies!

Happy Monday!
Let's hope it goes by fast.
I'm ready for the weekend again.

Da 4th

We had a fun 4th of July weekend.
Grandma Whitcomb came over to play with Matthew Saturday afternoon.
Then we had the rest of Steve's family and some friends over for a cookout on our new deck (thanks to hardworking husband and FIL and friend Ian, for the sweat equity they put into the 16x20 deck)!

On Monday, we went to my sister's to celebrate with my family.
I made the strawberry dessert and cake pops to share (thanks again to hard working husband for his patience in helping me with the cake pops!)

It was very hot and humid out and Matthew is like his momma, he doesn't do well in the heat. But he's also like his daddy, he's not much for socializing. As soon as we got there, he went into melt down mode. He didn't want to be outside in the heat and didn't want ANYONE to hold him except mommy or daddy (not even grandma!).

We love three day weekends!  It's fun to spend time with family and friends.
God Bless America!

Happy July

Happy July!  Is it really already July??!! (Pretty soon you may start seeing Christmas stuff in the stores!)
Life has been really busy and stressful lately.
I've been kind of feeling up and down and all over the place  (possibly postpartum??)

But instead of writing a depressing post, I wanted to focus on the positives (and it's almost 2:00 AM and I am way too tired!)

I love the 4th of July!
Especially seeing all the red, white and blue.
The patriotism displayed by all Americans.
I love living in a country with so many freedoms.
(Sometimes we take it for granted).

I am grateful for all the service men and women who have fault so that I can have the freedoms that I do.
Thank you to their families too!!

God Bless America!
Hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend!
