Matthew is 10 Months (late posting)

This post is way overdue, but we had the hardest time taking 10 month pictures! Matthew just was not into getting his picture taken this month.  I kep thinking we would reshoot, but never got around to it so I figured I might as well post what I have (before the year ends).
At 10  months, you are weighing about 20 pounds. Still wearing size 3 diapers and eating like a champ.  You are eating (very) small people foods at dinner and even started eating french fries!

But, still no teeth.
You are crawling on all fours and getting around fast!
(No more army crawl).
You love to crawl under the family room table (in one side and out the other).
You got your first sniffles this month.  It started out as a runny nose, but has evolved into a bit of a cough as well.  It makes mommy sad to hear you coughing.

This month you also got to visit with Santa!  You were really mesmerized by the jolly man in a red suite with the white beard.  You were not scared at all and enjoyed pulling on Santa's beard (gotta make sure it's real, right?).

You finally said 'mom-ma'.  Melts my heart when I hear it, every time! But you still prefer 'da-da'.
You LOVE your cousin Abbey.  She knows how to make you smile and laugh out loud!

We celebrated our first Christmas as a family and it was so special for us to have you in our lives.  You are our sunshine!
We love you SO  much!

Santa Baby

Is he not the cutest little santa baby??!!
I think we got our money's worth out of this outfit.  He's worn it many times this Christmas.
I wish I could keep it on him all year, but it's time to retire it.  No worries though, I've got a great idea for Valentine's pictures.

Our first Christmas as a Family

Matthew's first Christmas was special because we got to spend it together as a family. We did not spoil him with tons of gifts. We just bought him a few small things.
He was NOT interested in opening gifts at all!

In my head, I was going to go all out and make it super grand by stuffing his stocking, making lots of treats, doing tons of crafts (from pinterest of course) and starting all sorts of tradition.

But, it was ALL in my head because I did not have time to do ANY of it.
Any you know what?  It was still a perfect Christmas with our little family.

Christmas Eve

We went to Steve's parents for Christmas Eve (SO happy they have moved back to the area).
Matthew got an upgrade from his little cell phone. He got one that actually makes noise now (instead of the smaller one he had which didn't make any noise because the battery is dead).
We had a wonderful dinner of great grandma's Chicken noodle soup and home made gnocchi's (Steve's FAVORITE!).

We came home and finished getting the house ready to host my family for Christmas and we made cookies for Santa.  My niece Abbey was with us (but I didn't get to take any picture of her) and she was so excited for Santa to come.

(The plate says 'treats for Santa and carrots for the reindeer)

Exceeded photo quota

I went to blog about Christmas and tried to upload pictures when I got an error message! Apparently I have exceeded my photo quota for blogger/Picasa so I had to purchase more storage ($5 a year for 20 GB). It may take 24 hrs to become active.

Has this ever happened to anyone? I guess I'll try again tomorrow.

You Light Up My Life

I saw this idea on pinterest and knew I just had to try it.
No worries, Matthew was supervised the whole time so he wouldn't put the lights in his mouth.
(Daddy and Mrs. Melinda were standing very close by).

May the Light of Christ shine upon you this holiday!

Christmas Greetings

Merry Christmas to all!
We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday.
May we all remember the reason for the season.

An Ugly Christmas Sweater Party and Chocolate Covered Potato Chips

We had our second annual ugly christmas sweater party on Friday and this year it was at the Chocolate Bar! (Last year, I waited until the last minute to go so I had to creat my own ugly sweater.)

And Santa even stopped by to visit with us!

The food was good, but the dessert was devine!

Then I saw this in the Chocolate shop and just HAD to buy it.
Oh yummy!

And look what I found on pinterest!! I may have to make this at the next girls night out.

I Knew It Was Just A Matter of Time...

before my little guy would get sick.
He's made it 10 months without being sick and all he has right now is a  runny nose.
I'm hoping it doesn't get worst.

And I'm a little under the weather too (sore throat/cough).  Just in time to host Christmas at my house! Lovely.
I'm a bit stressed, but I'm trying not to let it ruin my Christmas spirit.

Christmas Tour of Homes

Welcome to our home.
As Nester says, It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful.

Our decorations haven't changed much since our last Christmas tour of homes in 2009.
Only major addition is our sweet baby boy!

Yes, that is Matthew's exersaucer behind the french doors. That's where he's trapped he plays while I work sometimes.

Thank you for visiting our home.
Hop on over to Nester's and Kelly's for more beautiful Christmas homes.

Merry Christmas!

An appointment with Santa

Why stand in a long line to see Santa at the mall when you can make an appt to see him at Wal.mart??!!
He was a good looking Santa too, real beard and all.
Matthew didn't even cry (which I'm sure next year may be a different story).

I was able to snap the second picture with my cell phone as Santa was still talking to him.  And when Santa gave him back to us, Matthew had a good grip on his beard.  I guess he wanted to make sure it was real too.

Up and Coming Musician

(Pictures taken from my point and shoot. Not the greatest quality).

We had the opportunity to see Taylor Berret perform over the weekend.
He is an awesome  musician!
Steve actually taught him in church when he was younger.

Taylor has an album coming out in the Spring!  I can't wait!!

You should look him up on youtube. My favorite is 'Those Days'
I seriously listen to his music EVERYDAY on youtube.

Here is one of our favorites:

The Littlest Buble' Fan

One morning, I was getting ready and Matthew was sitting in his little bouncy seat and was getting fussy. I put on 'Crazy Love' by Michael Bu.ble and he calmed down right away.  Then he fell asleep to the song being played on repeat.

Last week, the Michael Bu.ble Christmas special was on TV and Matthew was sitting there watching it intently. Although you couldn't tell from the picture above (it was close to his bed time).

What can I say? The kid has good taste in music.

Matthew Has A Bad Morning

Yesterday, Matthew's morning started out like any other day...
daddy feeds him his first bottle of the morning before he leaves for work, then puts him in the bed with mommy.

We fall back asleep for a bit longer, then Matthew starts to wake up on his own and crawls to the top of the headboard. Steve always piles the pillows along the edge of the bed so Matthew doesn't fall over. And I usually have a hand on Matthew so I can 'feel' where he is on the bed.

Well, I was super tired so wasn't really aware of where he was on the bed. All of a sudden I heard a loud thud and scream. Matthew had crawled over the pillows and off the bed!

I jumped out of bed SO fast and scooped him up! He cried for a little bit and was fine. I was scared to death! And of course, felt horrible that I let him fall!

Lesson learned! When Matthew gets up, mommy MUST get up too!

And after breakfast, he was sitting on the floor by the sliding glass door and fell over and hit his head on the hard wood floor.  Poor baby.  He was NOT having a good morning.

I may have to invest in a helmet for his little noggin (ha!)
