Having Faith

We had the opportunity to attend the temple on Friday for a wedding.  It's been a very loooong time since we've been able to make it back to the temple since Matthew was born.  I was so excited to go and be spiritually renewed.  My heart was heavy and I was seeking answers.

One of the things we have been praying about is whether or not we should try and sale our house again.  (We listed last summer and didn't have any luck).

I also prayed to accept whatever it is the Lord needed us to do and wherever we needed to be.

I was not feeling any promptings as to what it is we were to do.  But I knew what I wanted to do.

My wonderful husband was the one that received the answer to our prayers.  He felt strongly that it wasn't time for our family to move yet.  That our work here isn't complete yet.

This is where I'm ashamed to admit that I was SO upset by the answer he received.  I cried and was in denial because it wasn't the answer I wanted.  I was trying to come up with every excuse I could as to why we needed to move.

I finally realized that I needed to have faith.
I needed to seek forgiveness for my bad attitude.
I needed to be grateful.

I know that God has a plan for me and my family.  His plan is much better than my plan.
I need to trust in his timing.
Sometimes we get caught up in what we want that we lose sight of what God wants for us.
I am grateful to be humbled and to know that my Heavenly Father loves me and only wants the best for me and my family.
Truly grateful.

A Mickey Celebration

Oh 'two'dles!

Matthew's birthday party this year was SIMPLE and lowkey.
(Last year's party was way too stressful!)

We went with a Mickey Mouse theme because he loves Mickey Mouse clubhouse.  We invited family and a few friends.  And once again, I didn't get to take any pictures of the guests!

I made mickey mouse cupcakes and ordered a Vietnamese cake for the adults (it comes standard with pink flowers on it).  We served pho (vietnamese noodle soup) and appetizers.

It took Matthew a while to warm up to everyone and he wasn't so sure what to think when we were all singing happy birthday to him!

He certainly enjoyed his cupcake (mostly the frosting)!

It's amazing how much has has grown in a year!
I love every minute of every day with this boy.

24 Months - Officially a Toddler!

There's no more denying it...my baby is a Toddler!
He is now my little man.

I am SO glad we are done with these darn monthly pictures!  It was a great idea when he was 13 months, but by time he hit 20 - 24 months, it just became impossible to get him to stand still!

So what has this little toddler been up to?......

^^He loves to carry this family picture around and point out grandma and grandpa ^^

He is healthy little fella weighing in at 25 lbs. (70% percentile).
His length is 35.5" (80% percentile) and head circumference is 19" (45 % percentile).

His eating has slowed down a bit, but the pediatrician has reassured us that he is growing just fine.
Matthew's favorite is still chocket (chocolate).  He eats pasta, rice, mac and cheese, crackers (he's a carb boy!), fruit and occasional veggies (we need to work on that!).

We just started (like two days ago) to not give him milk anymore when he wakes up in the middle of the night.  It's been a rough couple of nights, but we're all adjusting.

Any ideas on how to retrain a toddler to sleep thru the night??

Matthew started preschool earlier this month.  He is having a blast and is learning SO much!
His vocabulary is growing and he is starting to recognize different colors.  He is making friends and learning to share.
I love when he says 'peas' (please) and 'tank q' (thank you).

I'm trying to teach him to say 'love you mommy' but it comes out 'ubb u mommy'.
The sweetest sound!

Matthew still loves his books!  And he enjoys making all the animal sounds.  It's fun to hear him roar like a lion and mooooo like a cow.

The best part of the day for me is when we all kneel together in family prayer and Matthew folds his arms. It's important for us to have family prayer together and while he may not fully understand (or sit still), I know that he gets the concept.

Seeing him fold his little arms and bow his head in prayer makes me so proud. I want him to grow up to know the power of prayer and to have a testimony of Jesus!

This little boy of mine is pure bliss. He is a bundle of joy and happiness all wrapped into one.
His little smile melts my heart.
I wish I could stop the clock so he doesn't grow up too fast.
The time passes way too quickly and I know one day I will blink and he will be all grown up.
I look forward to  many more milestones ahead.
I love him more than anything in this world!

Sick Day

Matthew rang in Chinese new year by being sick. :(
He had a cough all last week and it got worst by Saturday.  We took him in and it turns out he had the flu!  (Oh, the joys of day care/preschool germs).
So I spent yesterday at home with him.  He watched T.V., counted his loot from chinese new year, dumped out all the cookies and then laid on the stairs.
He had a follow up appt yesterday and is much better today and returned back to preschool!  Still a little cough, but is feeling better overall.

I introduced Matthew to paint a few weeks ago and he loves it.  I didn't know what to do with his little masterpieces so I cut them into hearts and decorated the sliding glass door for Valentines day!

Love this little boy of mine!

Love Notes..{FREE PRINTABLE}

If you follow me on instagram (@hnwhitcomb), you've probably seen this picture below...

Love notes
While some may think it's cheesy, I think it's important in any relationship to express why you love someone.

Then I came across this {FREE PRINTABLE} from one of my favorite bloggers (she is super talented and an amazing momma to two adorable kids).

Isn't it cute?!!

Now go get  your {FREE PRINTABLE}  and start telling someone special why you love them!  There's a few colors to choose from.

Have a lovely weekend!
Happy Chinese New Year too!

Chocket Mil

Matthew no longer takes his sippy cup of milk to bed.
We give him 'Chocket Mil' (chocolate milk) in a regular cup right before he goes down.
He gets so excited for his Chocket Mil.

Since he started preschool a week and half ago, his bedtime routine has been easier because he is SO tired by 8:00 pm.  It use to take him almost an hour to fall asleept.  Lately, he's asleep in 15 mins!  It's been fabulous!

I dropped Matthew off at preschool this morning and he did NOT cry!
Not even the whiney cry (the one with no tears).
I was so proud of him.
Not gonna lie, there was a part of me that was having a hard time letting him go.
But when I pick him up and see his face light up and he screams, 'Mommy!' as he runs toward me with his arms open.....Priceless.

Weekend Round Up

We went to a Juicy Couture 1st bday party for my cousin's daughter.
Look at that cake!
My SIL made it.  And she made little cupcakes with 'Juicy' crowns on them.
She is super talented.  I'm a little bummed she won't be in town to make Matthew's 2nd bday cake.

Last night, Matthew decided he wanted to put his socks and his shoes on over his pj's.  Then he proceeded to read his books in the corner.  The kid cracks me up!

We watched the super bowl and didn't really have a favorite team, but it was a GREAT game!

And now it's back to the weekly routine.
Mondays come way to quickly.

Stud Muffin - Take 2

Happy February!
What better way to kick off the Love month than with these cuties??
^^This picture was taken last week^^

Every Sunday I serve in the nursery at church and I always try to get a picture of Matthew and his little friend Anna.  She is the cutest little girl.  I love her blond curls.

When I show Matthew a picture of her, he smiles and says 'An-nah!'
^^I took this picture in December^^

Sometimes I get a good shot and sometimes, they want nothing to do with each other.
You know how young love can be. :)

You never know, these pictures may show up in their future (at a rehearsal dinner or a wedding). Ha!

Happy Friday!
