TGIF!!

We are slowly getting better over here.  Turns out Matthew had strep.  Steve and I just have a cough/cold/congestion.

Slowly, but surely we are coming back alive.

I was laying in bed with Matthew the other morning and he said, 'mommy, we're both sickies'.
I couldn't stop laughing!

I'm just glad he is back in preschool and is starting to eat again. He still has to finish his antibiotics though.  Do you know how hard it is to get a toddler to take medicine??!! We just end up putting it in his milk (a very small amount of milk).

I am so glad it's finally Friday!  If only I can kick this cough!
Beautiful weekend ahead!

oh, and I'm 22 weeks today!

Easter

Easter weekend was low key around here.  We are all sick!

We took Matthew to see the Easter bunny last week.  He was SO good this year (compared to last year!) I think the fact that we told him he could ride the train afterwards helped!

Here's the comparison to last year's pic! He looks like such a big boy this year!
Abbey was on Spring Break last week so she spent some time with us.  She was a big help with Matthew.  He loves his cousin Abbey.

Saturday morning we had a little easter egg hunt in the back yard with some cousins and neighbor kids.  Matthew wanted to wear his super hero cape to collect his eggs.

We have been sick all weekend so we stayed home from church.  Matthew opened his Easter basket and we just had a very laid back Easter Sunday.  No formal Easter pictures this year.  :(

I didn't get to make his Easter bow tie or even get to dye eggs with him. Since being on bedrest, I am very limited to what I can do. It's very hard, but I know it's all for baby girl!

One Year Older

On Tuesday (tax day, the 15th), I turned one year older!
It was a low key kind of day. I worked and then spent time with my boys.
Matthew helped me open up my presents.  My awesome husband turned in all his change that he'd been saving up to buy me a the new iPad Air.  It was SO very thoughtful.  He also got me a sushi making kit.  I'm so excited to try it out.  I also got some sewing things and Matthew got me some cute purple pj's!  I wore them to bed that night and the next morning when Matthew saw me in my new PJ's he exclaimed, 'mommy, do you love your pj's?!'  I assured him that I LOVED my new comfy PJ's!

We went out for Thai food and then came home and had Carvel icecream cake.  So yummy!

One of the presents Steve got me was turning Matthew's first year from my blog into a book!  I absolutely LOVED it!  I love going back and reading all the memories that had been recorded.  I'm so glad I have this blog to record our family memories (even if no one reads it!)  I miss scrapbooking the old fashion way, but there just isn't enough time.  This little blog captures our little family and life as it happens to us!

It was a fabulous birthday!
I am looking forward to many more blessings in my 36th year!

20 weeks - NOT the Appt I was Expecting

I had my 20 week appt last Friday.  We took Matthew so he could see baby sister.  Yeah, he was over it in like 2 minutes! Ha.

The appointment started out fine.  The tech measured my cervix and took measurements of baby.  Baby girl was faced down and did NOT want to turn over.  The tech kept poking my belly, but baby was not phased by it at all.

The tech left and the dr came in.  That's when everything kind of changed.
The dr said my cervix had shortened and they would have to go in and sew it up (cervical cerclage).  He showed me the ultrasound picture where we could clearly see baby's foot kicking at it.  (Baby girl was trying to kick her way out!).

I was like, so when do I have to get the surgery done?  He said, TODAY! It was already 3 pm on a Friday afternoon!  Alrighty then.  So we had to rush to my mom's house and drop off Matthew, then rush to the hospital.

The surgery was scheduled for around 6 pm.  We got there and went thru registration and ended up in Pre-Op.  They had me change into the hospital gown and the nurses were asking me a million questions.  Then they tried to put in an IV and it hurt SO bad.  After the 4th attempt I was crying!!  It really hurt like a mofo!

The second nurse tried a fith time and the anestesiologist came in and got it right away.  So six pokes later, they finally got an IV in!

And then it was on to the Operating room where they had to do the spinal anestesia!  Ouch!!
The surgery took about 20 mins and recovery was about 5 hours!  I couldn't get released until the anestesia wore off.  Finally at 12:30 AM, we were able to go home.

I was put on modified bedrest so the whole weekend was spent resting on the couch.  I have a follow up appt Friday with the dr.

I am praying that baby will keep growing and will stay put!

I'm not one for just sitting around so this modified bed rest is hard for a mover and shaker like myself!  But of course, I will do what is required for the safety of my baby!

My husband has been such a trooper.  He has done so much for our family.  I am learning that I have to let go of some of the little things (like if the house is a mess).  He tries so hard to do everything that NEEDS to be done.  Everything else will just have to wait.  Love him!

Pleadings of our Hearts

I love this quote.
It's just the reminder I need lately.

I have so many 'pleadings' in my heart and know that Heavenly Father hears and knows the desires of my heart.  I just need to learn to be patient and have faith in His timing.

I personally know He has performed many miracles in my life!
And for that, I am truly grateful.  Truly blessed.

Five for Friday - Anyone want to barter??

1.  This little boy of mine has been telling us lately that he does not want a baby sister anymore.  He wants a baby brother!  Too late buddy.

2.  I am 19 weeks today!  Sleep is getting harder because I can't sleep on  my back and my hands get SO numb when I'm sleeping.  Oh and the multiple bathroom breaks makes getting a restful night of sleep difficult.  :)

3.  My house is a mess, but I don't really care.  It'll eventually get cleaned and then become a mess again.....it's an endless cycle.

4.  Starburst jellybeans are my addiction right now!

5.  I need a new blog header!!  Anyone want to barter?  I'll make you two bowties if you make me a new blog header!  I just want something really simple (no pics).

Happy Friday!
