Year of the Horse

Happy Chinese New Year!

My little Golden child will be celebrating with his cousins this weekend at grandma's house.

I had to bribe him to put on his chinese outfit.  I'm hoping he will wear it for this weekend's festivities.

Last year, he refused to wear his Chinese outfit so I didn't get any pictures!
The picture below was from two year's ago.  Look at how little he was!

Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous New Year!!

A Miscarriage Scare

It all started last night when I was picking up dinner at the Chinese place in town.

I was sitting there waiting for our food and Matthew was standing in the corner looking like he was trying to go poo in his pull up. Our food was ready and as I stood up from the table, I felt a gush of fluid come out.

I thought, oh my goodness I pee'd my pants!!  It was odd because I didn't have the urge to go pee or anything!

I grabbed our food and grabbed Matthew, who was waddling so I thought for sure he had poo'd.  I contemplated whether or not to go to the restroom there and change him (and check on myself) or just go straight home.

I decided to just hurry and get him in the car and get home. SO thankful I did!

We get home and I have Steve get Matthew out of the car and I run into the bathroom because I still had the gushing sensation.  Seriously thought I just lost all control of my bladder!!

Here's where it might be TMI for some folks....but bare with me.

When I went to the bathroom, it was a bloody scene. That gushing sensation was not pee at all, it was all blood.  It was SO terrifying!!

I knew right then and there it was over. I thought for sure I had lost the baby.

We didn't know what to do. Do we go to the ER or do we just wait it out. My thinking was, what was the ER going to do??  They couldn't stop the miscarriage from happening. So we called the OB's office and the dr on call said to just make sure I wasn't feeling light headed or anything. If so, to go to the ER.

Over the next four hours, I just bled out and for sure felt like my body had dispelled every remnant of the pregnancy.

It was such an emotional and physical night. I didn't go to bed until 3 AM because there was so much on my mind.

I had my original OB appt (9 weeks) scheduled for this morning so we went in. It was suppose to be my initial pregnancy appt, but I figured it would be the miscarriage confirmation appt.

My dr was so nice and commented on how strong I was and he was amazed at how I kept my composure. I wanted to tell him that I cried all my tears last night, instead, I just said I was very familiar with the miscarriage road. I could see the sorrow and pain in his eyes.

Well, he said he wanted to do an exam and an ultrasound to make sure there was no tissue or anything left.

He started the ultrasound (with the vajay-jay cam) and to our surprise he said, "you're still pregnant.  There's the heart beat."

We were in shock!!  My response was "are you sure??!"

Low and behold, baby's heartbeat was 178 bpm. And baby was even moving!!

I just cried tears of joy!!

I still couldn't believe it!  I told the dr that I thought for sure I had miscarried because I had lost SO much blood and 'stuff' that came out.

As it turns out, all that blood was from behind the placenta, in the uterus. He didn't seem too concern about it. He said it won't affect the baby.

He wants me to come back in two weeks for a follow up ultrasound. I will try not to worry for the next two weeks.

I am so grateful that my baby is fine.  It was such a scary experience, but I wanted to share it because I want to give people hope. Just when you think it's all over, God performs miracles to restore our faith.

I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who watches over me and my family. I am truly blessed. I know we have a long road ahead, but I know my faith will get me thru it.

***Edit*** thank you to the anonymous commenter who told me the technical term for this...Subchorionic Hemorrhage. Common in 1st trimester. Still not a fun experience!!

Where We Spent Our Saturday

One of our goals this year is to attend the temple at least once a month.  We were able to go Saturday and it was wonderful.

I love this sacred temple.
This is where I find peace...where I find answers to prayers...where I feel closes to my Heavenly Father.  It is a glorious place.

It's also the place where we were married, which makes it even more special to me.

Matthew knew that mommy and daddy had to go to the temple so we dropped him off at my mom's house so cousin Abbey could help babysit him.  It's very important to me to teach Matthew that the temple is a sacred place and a special place where he can feel the Savior's love.  I want him to grow up knowing that the temple is a place that we should always look forward to.

I snapped these pictures on Sunday, before church.  He pretty much knows the drill now.  We get dress for church, he poses for mommy, then we leave for church.

I asked him if I could take one more picture and he said, 'no mommy, time to go to chuch'.

This kid cracks me up!

Fro-zen!

We got dumped with about 8" of snow on Tuesday.  Schools have been cancelled due to icy roads and freezing temperatures.

Matthew loved helping his daddy shovel the driveway. He was out there for about 15 mins and his little hands were frozen.  Hot chocolate and marshmellows to the rescue.

I am ready for Spring!!

8 weeks and a Valentine's Bowtie Giveaway

Our 8 week appt went well.  Baby has little nubs for hands and feet.  Heartbeat was 161.
That was our last appt with the RE.  He has released me to my OB and the Perinatologist.

I also saw the Endicrinologist yesterday as well and he wants me to start taking my blood sugar.  He just wants to monitor me to make sure my sugar levels don't get too high.  Last pregnancy, I didn't develop gestational diabetes until later in the pregnancy.

We stopped at a playground yesterday so Matthew could play.  Poor fella has been sick since Thursday.  Turns out he has an ear infection.  He's on antibiotics now and is starting to feel better.  Keeping him home from daycare one more day.

Super Heroes Get Sick Too

My little Super Hero to the Rescue!
I just LOVE when he puts on his cape and little mask.

But alas, super heroes get sick too.
Little guy came home with a fever yesterday from daycare.
It's so hard to see them sick.  The only good thing is they are SO cuddly.

We spent the day at home building forts, cuddling, and watching all his favorite shows!

And the potty training continues.  He was good today and even told me twice that he had to go potty.  Then later, he went potty TWICE on the carpet! You win some, you lose some.

Pot-tay Time!

This is what we've been up to lately around here....Potty training!
Matthew is slowly getting it.  See all the stickers on his chart on the pee-pee side?!

Since he goes to daycare/preschool during the day, I still send him in diapers/pull-ups.  His teacher says he's been very good at going in the toilet during potty time.  When he gets home, I put him in big boy undies and put him on the toilet every 15-20 mins.

I really want him to be potty trained before he turns 3 next month!  But how do you know when they are really ready to make the switch to big boy undies full-time??!!

And seriously, how cute are the little boy undies?!

6 Weeks

We got to see the TINY little heart beat this morning.

117 bpm.

Amazing.  Beautiful.  Glorious.

We will return in two weeks for the 8 week ultrasound and then will be released to my OB and the Perinatologist.

Praying baby will keep growing, and growing, and growing.
***Please do not mention pregnancy on FB or IG. THANK YOU***

Five for Friday

Picture taken at lunch on new years day.

1.  Happy New Year!  I'm not big on resolutions, but we are going to try and set some family goals together (like attending the temple more, teaching Matthew more about Jesus, and doing more fun family activities!).

2.  It is bitter cold today and I'm NOT a fan of the cold (or the hot)!  I like it just right. But there is something just beautiful about a blanket of white snow all around. Gorgeous (until you have to drive in it).

3.  I finished watching the Walking Dead and can't wait until it comes back on in February!  I normally don't like zombie movies/shows, but I got hooked on this one.

4.  I am still scared of miscarrying. Scared!  But trying not to let it consume me.  Can't wait until sonogram on Tuesday to see the little heart beat!

5. Instead of cleaning up dishes and laundry last night, I played super heroes with my little one.  We were 'rescuing' daddy at the top of the mountain (because he was stuck in traffic due to the snow).  Then we had to rescue the animals too and he told me I had to be the person on the 'look out'.  This kids imagination just makes me happy!

Happy Friday!!
