I Just Can't Get Over Your Cuteness!

One day when we were driving in the car, Abbey was in the back seat with Matthew and she was playing with him, trying to make him laugh...

giggling ensued....

Then I heard her say, 'Oh Matthew, I can't get over your cuteness!'

I laughed out loud.

I have to agree with her though.  I can't get over his cuteness either!

Memorial Day

We spent the weekend doing things around the house and then visiting with family.  Three day weekends are always so nice and what better way to spend it then to be with family.

Thank you to all who have served and who are serving or country.
We are grateful for the freedoms that we have because of the sacrifices that have been made by all the brave men and women of the military.

15 Months - What Matthew's Up To

Weighs 23 lbs.

Eating real cereal for breakfast (cheerio's). Eats them by the handful.

Naps two times a day (usually).

Knows how to climb downstairs (mastered going upstairs last month).

Understands simple directions like 'go give this to daddy' or 'bring it to mommy'.

Loves to help mommy clean by sweeping the floors (and carpet).

Likes to shake his booty when he hears music.

Blows kisses.

First ER visit due to temperature spike and seizure. :(

Went to nursery at church for the first time and loved it (trial run).

Rolls his eyes a lot and makes the funniest faces!

Still a flirt with all the ladies.

Turning into a daddy's boy.

Tricycle

Love how his little feet doesn't quite reach the pedals yet.
But he loves to 'steer' the tricycle.

Love that cute look on his face.

I'm trying to enjoy every precious minute with my little guy.  Pretty soon, he'll be riding his tricycle on his own and won't need mama to push him anymore!

After last week's scare, I'm so glad to have my happy baby back!

Enjoy the weekend everyone.

ER Round 2

Right before we were suppose to take Matthew to the pediatrician yesterday his fever went up to 103.  We called the peds office and they said take him to the ER.  So, off we went.

They gave him tylenol and ibuprofen when we got there.  We didn't arrive by ambulance so we had to wait.  And wait.

Finally, we were taken back....and waited some more.  They took a urine sample to rule out UTI. (As a side note, babies don't pee in cups like big people do so you can imagine how they had to get a urine sample from him.  Poor feller.)

Thankfully there was no UTI.  So, they ruled it as him just having a virus.  Treat with tylenol AND ibuprofen.

Last night was kind of a rough night.  Matthew didn't sleep well.  He was just restless.

I woke up so tired this morning, but then I realized that this is what being a mother is...
Sacraficing sleep (among many other things).

Doing everything you can to care for your baby.

Because he is the only thing that matters right now.

Thank you all for your prayers.  Matthew is not 100% yet, but hopefully will be very soon.
THANK YOU!

Ambulance Ride to the ER.

We went from this yesterday afternoon....

To this last night.....
My sweet baby boy was running a fever yesterday so we gave him some children's tylenol and it helped a little, but by the evening time it got worst.

Steve had been holding him on the couch and he was in and out of sleeping.  Then all of a sudden I noticed Matthews eyes were blinking really fast and we took his temperature, which was 104!  Then his little body started shaking.

We called 911 and it took them an eternity (as so it seemed)  to get to us.  All the while I was holding my baby and seeing his eyes close as his little shaking body started to slow down.

I was the hysterical mom screaming at the 911 operator to hurry up while my calm husband, along with said operator were trying to calm me down.

It was absolutely the most terrifying experience of my life!! EVER!

Diagnosis was Febrile Seizure.  It happens when the child's temperature spikes that high.  Such a scary experience.

Steve and a friend of ours were able to give Matthew a blessing in the hospital as we were waiting for his bloodwork results.  Four hours later, we were all clear to go home.

Matthew is doing a little better now. Still has a slight fever.  We are watching him carefully and have a follow up appointment in a little bit with his pediatrician.

I am SO grateful that my baby is ok.  Life is too precious and fragile.  I thank my Heavenly Father for watching over Matthew and our little family.

Please keep Matthew in your prayers.

My Little Men

I love when the weather is just perfect for a little play time at the park.
It's a great way to tire Matthew out.
He loves watching the big kids play (a people watcher like his mama)!

Love the little men in my life.
They put a smile on my face, even on days when I don't feel like smiling.

An Honor and a Privilege...

....to be called mama by this sweet baby boy. He fills my days with love and joy and pure happiness.
I received a package on Saturday with these yummies inside. Chocolate coverred strawberries by Shari's Berries!  Oh so delish.  But the card inside was even sweeter!

This time last year, Matthew was only 3 months.  And now he's 15 months!
I have been his mama for 15 months now.  Just when I think that my love for him can't grow much more, my heart melts at every laugh and giggle sound he makes.

I think motherhood is the hardest, yet most rewarding callings in the world.

Happy mother's day to all the mama's, future mama's and mama figures out there.
Special thanks to my own mother and the best mother in-law anyone could ever ask for!

Mall Fun

Little Boy:  "Why isn't it yellow?"
Me: "Well, sometimes it's clear"
Little Boy:  "My pee is always yellow"
Me: "Sometimes, girls pee clear and not yellow"
Little Boy: "oh"

That was my conversation with a little boy at the play area in the mall earlier this week.  A little girl had peed on one of the airlplanes that the kids were climbing all over.  Abbey and I were trying to keep the kids away after the father of the little girl picked her up and took her away to get her cleaned up and just left the mess there!

Meanwhile, all the other parents were oblivious that their kids were running through pee.  Some of them even gave me evil looks because they thought it was MY kid that peed in the play area! Finally a security guard came and was able to call the clean up crew.

I booked out of there with Matthew and Abbey.  Mall play areas are a big old germ petri dish!  Parents let their kids run wild and don't even pay attention to them.  I was so afraid someone was going to knock Matthew over!  I'm not a germ phobe, and I will still let Matthew play, but will definitely make sure I sanitize his hands afterwards!
Matthew loves the carousel at the mall.  If he could, he would probably ride it all day.

Cinco De Mayo and Nursery

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo on Saturday with my niece Abbey at a Mexican restuarant.  It seemed like everyone had a birthday that day. They were singing happy birthday like every 5 minutes. Seriously.

What's a Cinco celebration without a sombrero and a drink (virgin strawberry daiquiri of course).

Matthew is about 3 months from going into the nursery at church (18 months is when they go).  On Sunday, I was able to take him in for a little bit, just to slowly ease him into it.  He was just loving it! All the toys and big kids (well, bigger than him).  He enjoyed singing time and snack time!

My baby is growing up!  I can't believe he will be in nursery in a few months.
At least I have 18 yrs left before he goes on a mission!
p.s. now that I have crossed over into the iPhone world and apps like instagram and diptic (photo collage for my cell phone pics), I don't pick up my Cannon as much.  :(
Need to put more time (and effort) into my Cannon.  I'm sure it feels neglected.

Candy Coated Pecans

This is such an easy recipe and oh SO addictive yummy!

Original recipe found here on allrecipes.com.
(I read through the comments on the site and adjusted the recipe accordingly.)

INGREDIENTS:
1 egg white
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 dash vanilla extract
4 cups pecans
1 TBS honey (more or less)
cinnamon/sugar mixture

DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.  Line cookie sheet with wax paper.  Spray the wax paper with cooking spray.
2. Beat egg white until stiff (not sure what that meant.  I just beat the egg very well).  Add brown sugar and vanilla. Stir until smooth.  Mix in pecans and stir until coated.  Pour the nuts onto the prepared cookie sheet.
3.  Bake until browned, approximately 20 minutes, remove from oven and sprinkle sugar/cinnmon mixture, bake for an additional 5 minutes.
4. Cool and enjoy!

Makes a great addition to any salad!

Enjoy!
Happy weekend.

It Started on Saturday...

Matthew had a little cough.  No fever. Just a cute little cough.
Then he threw up his dinner.
The last couple of days, he's been very clingy and whiny.
Doesn't even want to play with the babysitter.
Threw up his lunch and has not been eating as much.  Still takes his bottles just fine though.
Not sure if it's teething or growing pains.
(He's not drooling so that may be ruled out?)

It's hard to see him sad and misreable and we don't know how to fix it.

Whatever it is, I hope it passes soon.  I miss my happy, playful toddler!
