Four Signs My Boy is Getting Big

- He talks a lot and while it takes some deciphering to figure it out sometimes, he's pretty good at getting his point across.

- He sat by himself to get his haircut (no bribes with lollipops).

- He tells us when he is stinky and recently said to me 'mommy, I stinky...it's a BIG one'.

- At bed time, I tuck him in and lay with him just a little bit, then I can leave him before he actually falls asleep (no more staying with him for an hour until he falls asleep)!

Now only if we can start  potty training soon and then he will really be a big boy.  I'm dreading it and don't even know where to start.  He has a little potty seat that goes on the toilet and he sometimes sits on it.  We haven't really pushed the issue yet, but will have to start getting serious about soon.

I love when he says, 'I not a bad boy, I a big boy'.

My baby is growing up.

A Tween

Happy 10th birthday to my beautiful niece Abbey!
I consider her an official tween now....and she certainly has the attitude to go along with it!
We love her so much and are just so blessed to have her in our lives.

Matthew's Moments

Matthew was looking at a family picture of us.

Me: Who's that? (pointing to Steve in the picture).

Matthew:  Daddy!

Me:  What's daddy's name?

Matthew: 'Beeb' (he hears Abbey call Steve Uncle Beeb - when she was little she couldn't say 'steve', so she said beeb').

Me: Who's that? (pointing to myself in the picture).

Matthew:  Mommy!

Mommy:  what's mommy's  name?

Matthew:  Honey!

That was from last month.  Now Matthew knows my name and tells his teachers, 'my mom is Hannah Wick-comb).  And he still thinks daddy's name is 'uncle beeb'.

And when we ask him who does he love?  He says, 'I lub mommy, daddy, and Abbey!'

What' I'm Currently Obsessed With

I've been collecting ideas on Pinterest to make Matthew a quiet book.  He is having a hard time sitting thru church (like most 2 yr olds).  We spend a lot of time in the halls.

The thought of making a quiet book is overwhelming! Seriously, there are some very talented people out there with A LOT of time.  I am definitely NOT talented and do not have a lot of time.

I'm still obsessing over it though!
Can I do it?!
Should I do it?!
I don't even know where to start.
Overwhelming, but still obsessed!

Silly Faces in the Morning

Waking up with this little monkey in our bed is always a happy sight.
He is the reason I get up every day.
He is the sun that shines on my most cloudiest days.

He is my joy!

Vacay 2013

We spent a week in Williamsburg for our family vacation.  This was our first road trip in our new minivan (Honda Odyssey)!  My niece Abbey joined us and Matthew just adores his cousin Abbey.  Thank goodness for the rear entertainment system to keep the kids occupied! Matthew clearly loves it.
We stayed at a very family friendly resort (thanks to the in-laws for allowing us to use their timeshare).  We had fun swimming in the pool, playing in the arcade, building bears, playing board games, watching movies and just relaxing!

We went to the Children's Museum in Portsmouth.  This is one of my favorite pictures below! I love how we're all in it.

We spent one day in VA Beach.  My sister came down with her kids for a few days.  It was Matthew's first time at the beach and he had a blast playing in the sand.  My sweet boy walked up to me while playing and gave me a hug and said 'mommy best friend'.  Best mommy moment ever!  I hope he will always consider his momma as his best friend.

Family fun time together!

Our last day was spent at Water Country.  So much fun! Matthew fell asleep before we even started the car to leave!

It was a wonderful, fun and relaxing week.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to spend time with my family.

The BEST part of the vacation that made my heart swell and ache at the same time??....Matthew would randomly say 'mommy, I want baby sister'.  It was so sweet, yet it pulled at my heart.  Someday he will be a big brother.  I know it.  I believe it.  Someday.

Fabulous 4th Fun

It was a fabulous 4th!
Hazy, hot and humid.
Water slide and snow cones kept us cool.
Hot dogs, hamburgers and oh so yummy corn on the cob!
We watched fireworks in the cul-de-sac and Matthew loved it.

Fabulous fun on the fourth!
