13w2d NT Scan and Lovenox Dilemma

We went in yesterday for the NT scan.  Baby V was VERY active.  The ultrasound tech was 'chasing' the baby back and forth to try and get measurements.  She kept poking and pressing down really hard on my belly to try and get a good reading.  Then the Pe.diatric car.diologist came in to try and take a look at the chambers of the heart and baby V was NOT being cooperative at all. So the Peri.natologist came in and tried, but again, baby was not having it.  I think the dr.'s were pleased with the heart beat (164 bpm) so they will have to try it again next time.  We should have the results of the NT scan in a week.

For this visit, I saw a different Per.natologist so he was reviewing my chart and wanted to know why I was on the Love.nox if I didn't have any known blood clotting disorders.  I told him my IVF dr. (dr. K) put me on it and didn't have a problem with me staying on it.  Just like my OB or the first Peri.natologist I saw last time I was in his office.  Well, this dr. was very adament about me not being on it if I didn't have a known blood clotting disorder.  He said he would call my IVF dr to get a better understanding of why he put me on it in the first place.

As we were leaving his office, he called me as I got to the parking lot.  He spoke to the IVF dr and dr. K said he put me on Love.nox for implantation and that I was probably safe to go off of it.  The peri dr said he thought I should be off of it.  I told him I would talk to my OB and would think about it.  Has anyone been on Love.nox during pregnancy for no known blood clotting disorder??

I'm struggling with what to do.  My OB previously said that he thought it was fine to stay on it.  Now this peri dr. is telling me I shouldn't be on it.  For my own peace of mine, I would like to stay on it, but I have to really pray about it so that I can make the right decision for me and the baby.

And to add to my exciting day, I woke up this morning at 3 AM to go to the bathroom and all I my groggy eyes could see was nothing but bright red! A LOT of it!  I was terrified! Needless to say, it was impossible to go back to sleep so I said a little prayer and laid there for probably 2 hours before I finally fell asleep again.  Steve was there holding me as we both tried to go back to sleep.  I called the dr.'s office this morning and they said that as long as I wasn't cramping and that the spotting was tapering off, I should be okay.  They said it was probably due to the ultrsound yesterday when they were putting all that pressure on my belly.  The nurse said that if it doesn't go away or if it gets heavier, then lighter again, to call back and make an appt.  She said I have to take it easy for the next 24 hours.  Thank goodness I decided to work from home today.

I continue to pray so hard for baby V to grow and develop.  I am trying not to worry too much, but it's almost impossible not to.  I will be praying and seeking the Lord's guidance and comfort as we decide what to do about the Love.nox.  I've gotten this far by the grace of God and know that He will continue to carry me through this journey.

12w6d - No Visual, Just Audio

I was excited to SEE baby V yesterday, but that didn't happen.  I was expecting the OB to do an ultrasound, but he just listened to the heartbeat via doppler.  It was a very quick appointment.  I guess I was so use to SEEING the baby  so much that I got spoiled.  Baby's heartbeat was 171 bpm. Nothing beats the sound of a heart so tiny.  Music to my ears.  I will have to wait until Monday to see the peri.natologist for the Nu.chal Trans.luceny screening.  I'll get to SEE baby V then.

We are heading to Six Flags theme park tomorrow for our annual company picnic. Abbey is super excited because she wants to ride some of the 'big kid rides.' Yeah, I'm not sure if she's ready for those quite yet. Most of our time will probably be spent in the water park.

I am ready for football season!!  My team (Wash.ington Red.skins) will be playing the Cow.boys on Sunday!  Our biggest rivals.  We have a new coach AND  a new quarterback!  Go Skins!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Papaya Bad?!?!

I had no idea! Thanks to the anonymous commenter who warned me about eating papaya during pregnancy!

I don't think I ate a ton of it over the weekend, but it still makes me nervous.

Queue panick mode!  I goo.gled it and this is what I found:

"If you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, avoid eating papaya or using a papaya product. Papaya is sometimes recommended for soothing indigestion, which is a common ailment during pregnancy. Although a fully ripe papaya is not considered dangerous, a papaya that is at all unripe contains a latex substance that triggers uterine contractions and may cause a miscarriage.

The papaya enzyme that helps soothe indigestion is called papain, or vegetable pepsin. Papain is found in the fruit's latex and leaves. 1 Researchers have noted that unripe papaya latex acts like prostaglandin and oxytocin, which the body makes to start labor. Synthetic prostaglandin and oxytocin are commonly used to start or strengthen labor contractions."

In short, if it's ripe it might be ok, but better not to risk it.

No more papaya for me! I have an appt with the OB today so I'm looking forward to seeing baby's heartbeat.

THANK YOU anonymous commenter for letting me know!!

Labor Day Weekend & Food Craving

We had grand plans to go grape stomping at a local vineyard, but by time we got there, they had already picked and stomped all the grapes.  Bummer.  It was a very small vineyard (a.ka. their backyard).  But the day was still young and the weather was absolutely gorgeous.  We had packed a picnic so we just plopped down on one of their picnic tables and soaked up the sun!

My two most favorite people in the world!

Cousins - TJ and Abbey

On Labor Day, I went to a friend's house for a BBQ. I had fun catching up and just stuffing my face with good food.  I love going to K's house because she always has yummy food.

And this my friends is what I have been craving like crazy!
PAPAYA Salad!

You can order this at any Thai restaurant, but it's not the same as making it at home.  The restaurants make a very tame version of it.
I like it Lao-style...Spicy!
Oh so yummy with sticky rice and chicken wings!
I need to learn how to make it on my own so I can satisfy my cravings.

Weekend was wonderful!  Steve is still busy with operation front yard (pictures to come soon).  I think he is realizing how big of a project it really is.  He is getting discouraged, but I told him to just do the best that he can and it will be fine.  I will be happy with whatever the outcome is because I know how hard he is working. I just want him to be happy and proud that he gave it his best!  Sometimes that's all we can do!

Happy Friday!

I am looking forward to spending this weekend with Abbey. I'm trying to figure out something fun we can do since it's her last weekend before she goes back to school. Steve will be busy working on the yard. He's taking on a huge project by digging up all the (dead) grass in the front and back yards, sifting out the tons of rocks (boulders), adding compost, and new grass seeds. When our house was built, the builder just slapped the sod on top of tons of rocks and trash so the grass really hasn't been growing very well the past 5 years. He will be taking all of next week off to get this project done. I hope he will get it all done because if my yard still looks like a rock quarry by next weekend, I'm not going to be a happy camper.

Wish him luck! (and wish me luck to keep my calm!)

I hope everyone enjoys the Labor Day weekend!

I'm ready for Fall!!!!!!!

Doppler

Even after the scary peri.natologist appointment, and hearing his opinion on dopplers, we decided to get one anyway. I thought I had my OB appointment tomorrow, but when I looked at my calendar, it's actually for next Thursday! I was bummed that I wasn't going to see Baby Vietitaly this week.  So we decided to order it last night off A.mazon.  Now I can at least hear the heartbeat on the weeks that I don't have an appt. It will bring much needed peace of mind!
